The “Leave The Scene Clean” Calendar

This colorful full-size calendar features environmental artwork by Lee County students.  The calendar, which is used as an educational tool, is distributed throughout the school system and during KLCB events.  A blend of corporate support, educational content and children’s art makes this project one of the most fulfilling projects of KLCB’s mission.  The calendars serve as a source of funding for school environmental projects as well.

Student Art Contest

All public, private and home-schooled students in Lee County are invited to create a full color drawing or painting showing what they have learned about conserving our resources and keeping our environment clean.  Judges select a cover winner, 12 first place winners (one from each grade 1-12) and 36 honorable mention winners.  Winners receive cash awards plus other goodies.  Honorable mentions (3 from each grade) receive goody packages.

Each calendar month is sponsored by a corporate contributor for $1,000 each.  Sponsors receive:

∞ A message space size 2.75” x 8” (vertical) that will be visible in 7,500 calendars.

∞ Sponsor message may be in 1, 2, 3, or 4 colors (e-mailed to KLCB by May 11, 2018).

∞ Recognition in publicity associated with the calendar project.

∞ Invitation to personally present award at student art award ceremony.

∞ Logo and link to company posted on KLCB website for 1 year.

7,500 calendars are produced and then distributed through the efforts of teachers, parents and school children.  Schools keep 100% of all the money they raise to be used toward environmental projects.

Time Line

It takes a full year from start to finish for each year’s calendar project to come full circle.  The art contest for the 2020 calendar began in November 2018.  Notice is sent out to all public and private schools in Lee County and the contest is announced to the media.  The contest deadline is April 22, 2019, judging occurs soon thereafter, and production takes place over the summer.  The calendar is released at a gala award ceremony held in the fall.  Schools then receive their calendars for fund raising.
